Happy 2015!! As the BNS children and parents entered the school Monday morning, I was instantly reminded on why I love being a part of this school. What a great feeling!
There are two times a year which are common to make new resolutions/goals – the start of school (September) and the start of the new year (January). Although I am known to make goals throughout the year, these are my most serious times to reflect and make changes.
One BNS goal that I always make at the start of school – and now again at the beginning of the year – is to find ways and to make sure all families feel connected and part of our school community. I am a firm believer that the more effort you put into something, the bigger the rewards. However, sometimes it might be difficult to know just how to make the effort – especially if your child is only going to school a couple of times a week, or if you are new to the community, or if you live a little further from the school. There are some upcoming events that I invite you and encourage you to attend, which are sure to help you feel more connected. Some of these include: the next grown-up social at my home (coming soon in Feb or March); the next BNS Coffee/Tea on Friday, January 16th; the next Rummage Sale on March 14th (yes, this can be fun!); and the Spring Work Party on April 18th. Another good way to get to know someone better is to arrange a play date for your child. If you are not feeling the love at BNS, I also encourage you to talk to me or your class liaison – and together we will find solutions.
2015 is going to be a great year!
