Bannockburn Nursery School

In addition to classroom participation, each family at Bannockburn Nursery School is expected to:

• Attend the General Meeting and/or the Classroom Meetings,
• Attend Unpacking Day (by babysitting or unpacking) or buy-out for a fee,
• Attend the fall work party, or buy-out for a fee,
• Deep-clean your child’s classroom once during the school year (a custodian cleans daily) or find a parent willing to take your place and pay the buy-out fee,
• Attend the Spring Work Party, or buy-out for a fee,
• Attend Packing Day (by babysitting or packing) or buy-out for a fee,
• Provide the classroom snack on a rotating basis,
• Give two hours of time to the annual Rummage Sale in March,
• Support our annual fundraising auction by purchasing tickets and donating items,
• Serve as a member of the BNS Board or a member of the Auction or Hospitality Committee.

The buy-out fee is scheduled to be determined by the Board of Directors no later than two weeks before the scheduled event.

Auction Committee

The Auction Committee works during the fall to support BNS's major fundraising event. All BNS families contribute donations, but members of the Auction committee will be asked to: 

• Mail forms to our corporate contributors,
• Pick up donations in advance of the event,
• Work on the catalog and database,
• Provide on-site event management,
• Set-up and/or clean-up on the day of the Auction, and
• Send thank you notes to our corporate contributors.

While members on this committee may be asked for a significant time contribution from September – November, most responsibilities will largely be completed after November.

Hospitality Committee

The Hospitality Committee provides food, beverage and ambiance for the school events, such as:

• September - Unpacking Day, Mandatory General Meeting, Back-To-School Picnic
• October - Fall Work Party, Fall Staff Appriciation Lunch, Halloween Parade
• November - Open House, Auction & Dinner – Bar/Beverage Service, Thanksgiving Feast
• December - Winter Holiday Party
• February - Heritage Dinner
• March - Work Party, Spring Sing
• June - School Picnic, Packing Day

Members of the Hospitality Committee will be assigned, based on preference, responsibilities to make these events turnkey. If you handle an entire event, your responsibilities for the school year may be over after your event. If you assist with events, we may need you to participate on two or more occasions. Every effort will be made to accommodate schedules when assigning event tasks.
