Bannockburn Cooperative Nursery School, Inc. does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, or national origin in the admission of students or the hiring of staff and appointment of board members. Each applicant for admission must complete an application form and submit it to the membership chairperson with an application fee. In the event that there are more applicants than places available, a system of priorities is set forth in the school’s bylaws. For example, priority is given to members who have had children in the school, to children in the Bannockburn Elementary School District, and to residents of the Bannockburn community. All priorities must be exercised by December 1st. Applicants after that date will be admitted or placed on the waiting list according to the date their applications are received. BNS reserves the right to balance classes by gender. To determine which class your child is eligible for, please see our Enrollment Guide. Application Fee

Financial Aid
Financial aid is available to qualified applicants. Parent Participation
Parents' cooperative responsibilities include assisting in the classroom, planning special events and parties, and occasional cleaning duties. Parents assist in the maintenance of school facilities. Each family serves on a committee or the board of directors. Nannies are not allowed to co-op. To view all of the parental responsibilities at BNS, review Additional Responsibilities. There are two plans for parent classroom participation: 1. Regular co-op: Parents co-op three times in six weeks
(2- and 3- day classes), or 4- 5 times in six weeks (5-day classes). Parents
also serve as emergency substitutes on a rotating basis (approximately 3 days
in 6 weeks). 2. Limited co-op option: In the 3- day and 5- day
classes, parents may apply to co- op a maximum of twice in six weeks and pay
higher tuition so that a designated aid can fulfill their participation
requirement. The school reserves the right to limit the number of parents
under this option. Parents on limited co-op never serve as substitutes;
however, all other parent obligations remain the same. Open HouseAn Open House will be held on Saturday, November 8th from 10 - 12 noon for prospective members and their children. We also welcome visitors during the school day and encourage you to schedule a tour by calling Sara Love, Membership Chair, at 703-963-2710.
